I purchased a beautiful Movado watch for my wife which she only wore on evenings out or special occasions. Three years later it just quit working. I sent it back to the jewelry store for battery replacement (my assumption) and was SHOCKED when they called me to say that it would cost $340.00 to repair my wife's watch (paid $450.00) for it. I asked why? It was not banged or dropped, what could cost that much? The "movement" in the watch went bad. Expensive to repair. A KNOWN MOVADO PROBLEM. I was not informed of this known problem when I was on the purchasing end. BUYERS BEWARE!!! Movado's warranty is fair and the repair bill can be quite high. Will never buy one again. For an expensive and well known brand, I expected it to last much longer than 3 years. I have had several cheap end watches that have suffered everyday abuse and are still running. Look around, you will find better!

After shopping around and reading people's reviews, I went ahead and made the purchase on Amazon. Not only was the watch half the price on Amazon, but the it also arrived super quick. I ordered it like Tuesday or Wednesday and it came Friday.

The only thing was that it was a little big, so we're gonna have to take it in to take a couple links out. Other than that, this watch is beautiful and my girlfriend loves it.

I tried to find this watch at a store but nobody seems to carry it. I took a chance and made this purchase online and was glad I did. For a Tissot, this watch comes at a great price. It does say "swiss made" on the front. It is relatively small for a chronograph watch. I like that it's a bit sporty and stylish at the same time. The band was easily shorted to my small wrist at a local watch shop. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

My wife and I are watch lovers. I wanted a nice automatic that could be versatile...wear at work, casual occasions or dress occasions. This one fills that requirement very well.

It uses Seiko's inexpensive but very durable automatic movement...no hacking or manual wind, but powers up just fine with wear. The lack of hacking makes for a little more difficulty if you are trying to match the time exactly to another watch...minor issue though and not considered a fault...its just how the movement is designed.

The lume is very good...hard to beat a Seiko for quality of lume. Glows plenty bright enough to see through the night.

The case back is transparent so you can watch the movement at work...its not decorated in any way but nonetheless interesting to watch.

The case is 38mm, nicely polished and solidly built. The bracelet is fine...definitely not high end but comfortable and should last a good long time with normal wear (depending on how you define normal).

Amazon states WR rating at 330' or 100m. The actual rating is 30m which is fine for hand washing, rain and if you forget to take it off before a shower that should not be a problem. Dont go diving with it though.

The blue dial is a nice deep blue...the hour markers are applied very well. The hands are long enough...may not seem like something to notice, but have you ever seen watches with hands that dont even come close to reaching the hour markers? Looks bad and is annoying...this watch does not have that problem...great job on the hands.

Accuracy is ok...for the few days I have had this one it has lost about 15 seconds...not spectacular but decent. Automatics can be "luck of the draw"...same movement from the same company in the same model and range from +/- 1 second a day to +/- 30 seconds a day or more. Fortunately if you get one that has bad accuracy, you local qualified watchmaker can probably regulate it for you quickly and cheaply.

The crystal is hardlex...which I assume is their name for a mineral crystal. It can scratch although it is pretty rare that I scratch a crystal and not a major concern.

The crown is push/pull, takes a little effort to pull out and it is small. On one hand it is a little difficult to manipulate it for setting time and date, on the other hand the small size and effort it takes to pull out is a real advantage as there is no worry about it getting caught on something and accidentally pulling out and compromising water resistance.

Amazon has good prices on these watches and at this price I used the one day shipping option...I have always found Amazon very reliable and safe to order from.

I love the look and feel of the watch on my wrist and I wear it constantly. For the first two weeks the watch worked OK, it ran about 20-30 seconds fast per day. I have heard this is normal for mechanical watches that haven't been tuned after purchase. However two months later the watch runs 15-30 minutes slow per day and randomly stops for several seconds despite the fact I wear it every day. Thanks to the clear window in the back of the watch it is easy to see that the frequency of oscillation for the movement is strongly dependent on the orientation of the watch. (face up, face down, or sideways) If you want a watch that doesn't need a battery there are quartz movements from Citizen and Seiko available. Mechanical watches are only for people that want to have (and pay for) frequent maintenance.

Wonderful watch for the price. It works well, though the self-winding means I can't have it as just a work watch(with casual use it seems to run down in about 30 hours, so you need to give it a few shakes on the weekend.) I work at a job with a lot of powerful magnetic fields and they don't muss up the time too badly, every few hours I need to tweak it maybe 1-2 minutes either way, but I've let it go all day without losing or gaining more than 5 minutes. It's durable and the only part that shows any wear after a month of use is the clasp, which has some brushmarks from rubbing on things I have picked up, I suppose.

I've gotten quite a few comments, including one from my supervisor who is a bit of a watch aficionado.

I just got this item a few weeks ago, but I already think that it's one of the best watches out there. There's a lot of good things to say about this watch, some are:

1. the red second hand which makes the watch more distinct.
2. the band is very comfortable. Has metal slots and buckle to adjust it to your wrist size.
3. the numbers on the dial are fairly large which makes it easier to read.
4. the hands and numbers all illuminate in the dark
5. shows the date and day (it's in spanish around 3am-5am)
6. the crystal is made of a type of mineral which is scratch resistant. (still no scratches on mine!!)

Besides all that, this watch has a very nice casual look and is more of an everyday kind of watch. It will never need a battery since it's powered by both natural and artificial light. It fascinates me to realize that a watch will last longer than my life span.

Overall this watch is great. only negative aspect is that I noticed that the crown bruised the back of my hand a little, but I never realized it till recently.... just thought I should mention that.

I would have preferred "brushed stainless steel" anyway.
The surface looks shiny as if "nickel plated".
Not the "outdoor" finish, it appears to have in the photograph.

The BIG disappointment however was the fabric strap:
After one week (only) of inserting the strap into the
sleeve guide, the little sleeve was blocked.
Reason, the inside of the sleeve is NOT sewn,
but GLUED (with contact glue ?).

I now have a big mess, where the strap-end (the part
which is inserted into the sleeve) is all sticky/ guey
with this glue.

I tried re-glueing with a "will be solid after curing" wood glue.
Not a good idea, looks awful.

Really disappointed in CITIZEN, at this price
($89.-) they should be able to do better.

For whatever reason, Citizen has yet to make all of its lineup available in solar-powered form. Admittedly, there were other designs that I would've chosen had a wider selection been available. Utility must trump aesthetic concerns in a watch, however, so I went with the type that never would see a jeweler. Still, I was WRONG if I had ever thought for a moment that I'd be compromising with this watch.

As one of the most reviewed items on Amazon.com, there is little left to add. I would just iterate that the watch could definitely pass in a formal setting with a different strap, but for other occasions works just fine. The duration of emitting light at night is strongly tied to how much exposure to the sun it's received during the day (though it is also worth noting that it tends to work even in mild shade). It is shinier than in the stock Amazon.com photographs, as is true of other watches as well. I urge you to look at the customer-submitted photographs, which more accurately portray how it will actually look on your wrist.

The second-hand is indeed off of the slashes just a little bit. If you're that concerned, you probably have an extra $300.00 to spend and should stop looking at the thrifty alternative.

I was much less annoyed by the strap and grommets than reading the entirety of reviews here had prepared me to be.

Make sure to set the watch date right! It is extremely satisfying to have the date and day change precisely at 12:00 midnight, which was not the case on my other Eco-Drive watch--even though I set it within the prescribed window, I became dissatisfied with it changing later in the morning.

For people interested in READING the time, while also not mind being SEEN with a timepiece (e.g. having an awkward hunk of metal cling-clanging around your wrist like you are some sort of baron), this is your watch. I am extremely satisfied with how well I can tell the time, as well as how the watch looks.

I am quite pleased with this watch, though it is the largest I've ever worn. In addition, the prospect of having to change the strap in the future (perhaps because I've been brainwashed here) keeps it from receiving an impeccable rating.

Nice looking watch but Amazon has poor product description. Please be advised that the band is MATTE stainless steal and NOT POLISHED. Only reason I knew that was because I went to my local jeweler! Matte (brushed) finish is very abrasive to the skin and does not feel good. It also makes the diamonds on the bezel look cheap. I suggest that anyone looking to buy an expensive watch to check it out at your local jeweler first. But of course, I had another problem with that watch too (it came with no authenticity cards). Anyways, in general, Amazon needs to do a better job, specifically their JEWELRY department.

First off, I shopped around quite a bit at the local jewelry stores for a watch to purchase as a birthday gift. At this time *August 2009* this watch retailed at the department stores and mall shops for about $1,600. They like to try to get you to buy it with a not-so-attractive 15% discount or so.

Anyway, my girlfriend really liked this particular watch because of the simple, elegant design. I agree with her that this design is classic and has good detail that will continue to be appealing for many years. I purchased this watch on Amazon because I have found great deals on here before for jewelry - watches in particular.

I decided to try it again because of the security that states the product is sold and shipped by Amazon.com themselves. I trust in Amazon's descriptions and promise to deliver a quality product which is why I decided to buy it here.

The only reason I did not rate it a 5-star was because I feel like it is still a bit overpriced for what you are really getting as far as precious metals & diamonds are concerned (or lack of). First, for the reviewer who said Amazon doesn't provide authenticity for watches bought through them...well, I'm not saying that is a jeweler who doesn't like the competition (grin) but I am saying we just bought 2 watches as Christmas gifts through Amazon that came with warranties, authenticity, etc. Amazon doesn't sell the watches, Amazon sells the watches for vendors (see "sold by" on product page) so I would suggest if yours comes with something missing, contact the vendor or return it to Amazon...Amazon has been great for us with returns. From designer purses to watches to tvs to computers...everything I've bought through them (I prefer shopping this way to avoid tax and shipping) has had everything it should including warranties and authenticity papers and no storefront customers prehandling it. But I agree that is an issue and if mine was not included, I'd return it for another one immediately or return it. You want your warranty.

Okay, so...that said...this has been my watch for 10 years now. Yes, 10 years now. I don't ever remove it. I am an artist and it's gotten oil paint on it, comes right off, I clean the tub with bleach while wearing it and you'd never know (not on purpose, I'm forgetful) I've forgotten to take it off scuba diving into the deep pressurized ocean twice with no problems, I wear it (on purpose because I know I can) every time I go swimming, including in the ocean, (ocean trips twice a year) I shower in it ever day, and I work out at high intensity, high sweat 6 days a week in this watch. For 10 years. The only thing I have ever needed to have done to this watch is replace the battery and when I did they polished it for me so it looks totally brand new.

But, the best thing about it is that I spoke with my jeweler about my watch when I had the battery replaced because I was shocked to see this continue to go up in price every time I'm in the jewelry store while I see other watches often depreciate when new models come in. He said Omega is known for that and a good brand to get for that reason...for the value. Nice.

Negatives: It does not show the date if that's something important to you...Also some like numerical faces and this just has dashes. These don't bother me and my cell phone is always on me with the date anyway or I have the computer open so dated watches aren't something of importance to me...however, for others it is important so you might be aware.

p.s. It's water proof to a certain number of feet...which means you can wear it swimming but should NOT scuba in it like I did. It didn't hurt a thing when I did but that was an accident because if you dive deep the pressure can cause leakage. Speaking of which, when you change the battery be sure to take it to an authorized Omega dealer because there is a seal in this to make it waterproof and I had a friend who took one to a cheap "change it in a hour" battery replacement mall storefront and they just popped open the back and put a new battery in, broke the seal, and next time she got in the shower it leaked. She got it repaired via a GOOD jewelry store but was without her watch for 3 weeks because of it.

I bought this watch from Amazon and am very satisfied with it. Came in spankin new with everything included except for the international warranty card which Amazon keeps. Checked the serial with Omega HQ in Switzerland and was verified of an authentic watch. For the price, it does make it worthwhile to own. This is really a very bad choice, at list my experience with it.
Since i bought it, the watch NEVER work well!
First it was running to fast (5 minutes in 1 day).
Now is to slow.
It has past 1 year and a half and the watch after going to repair 4 times is still slowing down at a rate of 24 seconds every 48 hors.
And every time that the watch goes to repair, is at least 1 month !
For this price is too expensive.

I bought my Omega Speedmaster back in 1971 for about $160. Best watch I've ever owned. I used it for over 30 years on a daily basis as a stopwatch to set up,calibrate and optimize laboratory research systems. On any given day, I'd use it in this capacity maybe 5 times a day in various locations in my job as an Analytical Field Engineer-consultant. I must have set up,tested,calibrated and optimized well over 1000 research laboratories around the world.-Always using this watch as my essential timer.

In all those years, I've had it attended to only twice. Always by a certified,authorized Omega jeweler. DO NOT EVER use unauthorized jewelers to work on this watch - most of them have never seen this watch until they get their hands on yours, and they don't have a clue what to do and how to do it. If you own such a wonderful chronograph, make certain you use authentic parts and an authentic Omega certified jeweler.

The first time for a replacement watch band - wore out the original- got one - an authentic metal watchband - from Omega along with a complimentary mechanical inspection, cleaning, and calibration.

Second time, about 5 years ago, the start button return spring broke, - after being pushed about 13,000 times by me. - took it to Omega certified repair station. They did a complete overhaul,repair and cleaning for a few hundred bucks. Good as new.

As a chronograph, this watch ALWAYS kept excellent time. A real work horse, and it beats out all my other various Rolex's and other Omega's.

I can't stand quartz,battery powered watches. This Omega and I have a symbiotic relationship. The agreement is, I wind the watch,and the watch tells me what time it is -accurately and consistently.

Only thing is I wish I had one of those "Made it to Moon" engraved backs on it. Perhaps Omega would consider providing me one?
If I were to buy another Omega Speedmaster- considering it for my sons, I'd be sure to purchase only an Omega Speedmaster with the engraved back casing that says - Made it to the Moon- AND I'd be sure to get the sapphire crystal not the cheap helite plastic one. And I'd be certain to get the authentic Omega metal band with locking clasp.

OMEGA, how about it, offer me a new engraved back case in return for my 40 years of use of your wonderful product.

You buy this watch, you get a battery-free, heirloom! Use it daily and pass it down to future generations. When someone of your future progeny is stuck in a battery-less environment then he/she will be the only person in the group who will know what the accurate time is. First I must declare that this product was purchased from and shipped by Amazon.com, not by a vendor advertising in the Amazon.com marketplace. This is an important attribute because of the number of "knock off", "fake", or the overused term "replica" name brand watches being sold as the authentic article by some of these less than reputable `gray market' vendors. This is critically important because of the money you will shell out to obtain this fine watch. I was apprehensive about purchasing this watch online because of the high possibility of being scammed; however, I felt I could safely purchase a fine watch from Amazon.com because I had faith that their buyers sourced these watches legitimately in the wholesale watch market. I don't believe that Amazon.com wants to damage their reputation by scamming the public by passing off fake watches as genuine and would take reasonable measures to assure the authenticity of their products offered and sold.

Before I purchased the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced watch, I spent hours scouring the web for information regarding how to identify a fake Omega Speedmaster watch. What I found was occasionally a little contradictory, but there is enough for you to confidently verify and validate your watch as genuine without opening the case. As I said, information was contradictory occasionally, but more importantly, the characteristics to help determine a watch's authenticity are determined by the age of the watch itself and can bring authenticity in question when the wrong characteristics are applied to an inappropriate year or even the correct model. This is because minute changes have occurred over the nearly half century of the watch being manufactured.

The reason why you have to go through this nightmare of web research is that unless the watch was registered with Omega by an "Authorized" dealer, Omega will declare the watch a fake, regardless if it is genuine or not. This is to protect the "Authorized" dealer's network and sales. This is important because an Authorized reseller is NOT permitted to discount the price of the watch and must be sold at list price. I have read in some cases, that the "Authorized" dealer is permitted to discount the watch up to 15%, but this hasn't been confirmed. You'll need to confirm that yourself. If the dealer does discount the price, or discount it below the 15%, they may jeopardize their "Authorized Dealer" status. Amazon.com and other "gray" market vendors can discount the watches more steeply, however they may not register them with Omega. Because the watch is not registered with Omega, genuine or not, Omega will not honor their standard warranty. Amazon.com offers their own warranty for the Omega watches, which is actually a year longer than the manufacturer's, to compensate for this.

Upon receipt of the watch, I carefully unpacked my watch and left all protective materials in place until I was satisfied it was genuine. The watch arrived in the proper shipping box, inner red Omega box, instruction guide, and feature/serial number cards. It also had all the proper laser etchings, matching serial numbers, and bracelet nomenclature. My watch arrived with bracelet model 1471/815. This is a great bracelet because it has a similar locking mechanism to that of Omega Seamaster. After inspecting the watch, I brought it to a former "Authorized" seller of the Omega product line from which I purchased my 2002 Omega Seamaster Professional Quartz Midsize for his assessment of the watch's authenticity. (Note - He was an authorized dealer when I purchased my Omega Seamaster.) He declared, without opening the watchcase back, that the watch was either genuine or an extremely impressive fake. After this, I had the dealer remove some links to match my wrist size and began to wear it daily.

As for the watch itself, it is beautiful, rugged but formal looking, and functional. It has the attention to detail you'd expect from such an expensive wristwatch. The watch has the characteristics more of an airplane gauge than that simply of a luxury watch. I feel I am wearing a fine, precision engineered tool. I don't get from some of the other lessor brand watches I own alongside my two Omegas and Rolex.

I mentioned earlier, my Omega Seamaster, which has equivalent quality of the Speedmaster. I also own a 2000 Rolex Submariner I purchased new without the date function. Of all three watches, I appreciate the detail of this watch the most, but I like the sense of ruggedness I feel wearing the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Seamaster. The Speedmaster, while being a "professional" watch like the other two, seems more "dressy" due to the 1471/815 bracelet's highly polished links. The Rolex Submariner and Omega Speedmaster, can both be worn with a suit just fine, but they seem to me to be more appropriate worn with casual attire.

This model I purchased is the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced. This watch is a little smaller in size than the Omega Speedmaster. I purchased this model rather than the regular sized model because I have a relatively small wrist compared to the size of my forearms. This watch appears regular sized on me. If you have a larger wrist, this size watch may not be for you. You should opt for the normal sized model if you have any concerns about the watch size.

As to the function of the watch, I've only had it a month and haven't seen it lose time. What I have noticed, is that if the watch slips towards my hand and I arch my hand back far enough, like while driving, I occasionally depress the top button of the watch which stops the watch from moving. I was concerned until I caught it one day. This is a self winding watch, and I found that it lasts longer than a day off the wrist before needing to be manually rewound and the time reset.

The Reduced model watch (Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced) is related and very similar to the "Moonwatch" (Omega Speedmaster Professional Mechanical Chronograph Watch) but is not THE "Moonwatch" model. The key differentiators between the Reduced and the "Moonwatch" models are(1)size, the "Moonwatch" is (2) a mechanical watch (requires daily manual winding) while the Reduced is automatic winding, and the "Moonwatch" (3) has a hesalite (plastic) crystal. The dials on the watch face are also in different locations between the two models. There are some other minor, subtle differences between the two, but they really aren't worth mentioning, except to the purist of the "Moonwatch". If you are a purist of the Moonwatch, spend the extra money and purchase the "Moonwatch". You won't be happy unless you do, regardless of price or the feature advantages that the Omega Speedmaster Automatic Chronograph Reduced model offers. Check the Omega website for the proper model number. It may have changed, but the most recent look was model 3570.50.00. If you want a wonderful, classy, professional watch that is a descendant of the "Moonwatch" lineage and prefer a smaller sized watch, than this watch is for you...should you have enough disposable money to lay down for such a nice watch and not get buyers remorse. If you want an automatic watch that is larger in size, you may be more interested in the Omega Speedmaster Date Automatic Chronometer Chronograph Watch model number 3210.50.00. This watch has date feature which is missing from the Reduced model. Happy shopping.

I looked long and hard before selecting this watch and I am really thrilled with it. All of the photos online dont do it justice as, once it is on your wrist, you will see that it's a thing of beauty. The stainless case and strap are set off by the dark, dark matt grey face and the bright hour and minute markers. The lightly domed glass reflects and refracts and makes the face sparkle in any light. Okay its not quite the moon watch but then who wants a watch with a plastic face anyway? Its near enough and you wont regret making the choice of the smaller, better proportioned model at a fantastic price. My model keeps excellent time. I miss having a date function but again, a classic Speedy doesnt need it. Go for this model...you wont regret it.

I have several High dollar Rolex divers and I love them all but for everyday abuse and accuracy the Seamaster Professional 300 QUARTZ wins hands down. Its one of the few divers watch that is'nt a Rolex Submariner knock off. The Omega stays true to its own design and does not borrow the Rolex look in any way. This is important to me because I already own a Rolex Submariner. The Omega Seamaster design holds its own in a crowd of diver watches and is never confused with anything else other than a OMEGA SEAMASTER.
I absolutely love this watch for several reasons. 1st its build quality is perfect and its fit and finish is top notch. The accuracy is excellent. My watch is + or - 0 seconds in 30 days. Outstanding!! The Omega Seamaster 300 quartz movement is Omegas toughest Diving watch and can withstand 5000g's of shock. No wonder it was THE original James Bond choice in GoldenEye.

Omega quarts movement are very high quality and doesnt take a back seat to its automatic brother at all. Both have their selling points. Both are desirable for the same and different reasons.

Why you should buy a Omega Seamaster quartz:
Not all quartz movements are the same just like not all automatic movements are the same. Omega quarts is a very high quality robust movement. There is no reason this quartz movement cant last 3 lifetimes or be handed down as a family heirloom. Maintenance is also a lot cheaper than its automatic brother and less fussy all around.
The 5 link bracelet on the Bond models are a masterpiece of design and comfort. Omegas best bracelet ever.
Omegas quartz movement can be serviced 30-40 years down the road just as easy as keeping a automatic going for the same amount of time. The only difference is it will still be cheaper to service in the end.

Like the title says, a true piece of art trumps price, every time. This watch is the perfect mate of beauty, class, craftsmanship and usefulness.
The watch immedietly stands out a quality time piece to even the most casual of observer. It sets itself apart from minor details; details that speak of expierence, care and attention to quality.

I cannot give an honest pro/con list of the watch's qualities at this time because I haven't owned it long enough. This review is my initial impressions. Although I conducted an immense amount of research before purchasing this particular model, and from the reviews, personal testimonials and widely-available resources, this watch is as sturdy and reliable as it is beautiful.

Details: This watch is like any fine jewlery product. From the images posted on Amazon you cannot get a feel for how this watch feels and looks in person. All metal parts are either finely brushed or beautifully polished. This watch stands apart from every lower-end watch in the spectrum. All the laser etchings are crisp and clear and fonts are classic and clean. It is the small details such as the font, exact mechanical tolerances and minor touches of class that make this watch the fine piece that it is.

The root purpose of this review is not to brag about the watch though, there are plenty of people that do that already. The point I want to clarify is that customers shopping from Amazon can do so without hesitation. Amazon IS NOT, an official Authorized Dealer (AD). Therefore, the Omega warranty is void! If you are looking for a watch from an AD that will cover the full Omega warranty - DO NOT order the watch from Amazon. Although, I will say this: Amazon does provide a comprehensive and detailed warranty and support network for customers. If your not concerned about the Omega International Warranty, then you can purchase this watch without concern. Amazon provides the official hang tags, outter box, inner red leather box, instruction manual, official and authentic pictogram and International Warranty card (which is not endorsed by an Omega AD so therefore the Omega warranty is no good). I felt completely comfortable purchasing this watch from Amazon despite not having the Omega support available. When I purchased the watch on June 14th, my only concern was the shipping and condition upon delivery. When I recieved the watch a mere five days later (shipped on the 15th, arrived on the 19th overseas to an APO address), there was no damage to the product or the packaging whatsoever. In fact, I was surprised and pleased at how quickly the watch arrived.

To keep this as short as prudent, I won't get into the details of Quartz vs. Automatic but if you have questions or want more details, you can search online where there is a plethora of information or contact me and I will be happy to explain it. But suffice to say, I was very happy with the quartz watch.

Bottom line: If you an Amazon customer wishing to purchase this watch and your NOT concerned with having the Omega Warranty, go for it, dive in and enjoy every wonderful detail this instrument provides. If your a collector and stickler for having the warranty then I suggest moving on to your local jeweler or AD.

The Omega Seamaster 2221.80 is my first big brand watch, so my I shant be able to do any comparisons with other timepieces in this class. I am, however, truly happy with this watch. It is stylish, sturdy, and, most importantly: it feels good. It is stylish enough to wear at formal events yet sporty enough to go with normal everyday attire. Leather shoes and tie or sneakers and a hoodie. This watch complements almost all styles. I have not owned it for long enough to tell you that it will provide fault-free service for a lifetime, but it seems nigh on unbreakable. You will definitely not be afraid to wear it, which is brilliant. Most expensive things tend to be either flimsy or flashy. This is neither. I think it can be best described as luxury for everyday use. It is, to my mind at least, not even really expensive considering what you get. It is not cheap, mind, but this is of high quality. Although we often would like it not to be true, you do in most cases get what you pay for.

The only slightly negative side about this watch, and it is only slight, is that because it has a metal wristband, I can't really wear it while using my Macbook Pro because it will scratch the living heck out of my computer. It is, however, a only a slight nuisance, and, I should imagine, a nuisance that one will not have to put up with if one uses a desk top computer.

I'm truly and utterly chuffed with this watch and can only recommend it highly. You need to go into a store and try it on. It seems a lot nicer when on your wrist than does it here on the internet. The picture here on Amazon (as well as almost all other websites) does not do the wonderful, deep blue color of the Seamaster justice. Not at all.

I've owned the quartz version of the James Bond Omega since the first year it was introduced. I think I bought it more than ten years ago. I own many watches and this is my favorite and the best I own. Battery life is five plus years. The watch has a built in warning of low battery (second hand jumps every two seconds) and leaves you at least a month to change it after the warning. Accuracy is remarkable. Because you don't have to stop the watch to adjust for daylight savings time, I can say that the watch gains fewer than five seconds per year; this is why I don't understand why one would buy a mechanical version. While the case has endured reasonable scratches, the crystal is perfect. I paid about $800 (discounted) for the watch many years ago and have never regretted the purchase. I can sell it today on ebay for about what I paid for it. What other new product can you say that about? You will never regret buying this watch.

I've owned my "James Bond" Automatic Mov't Omega for 9 years. I own 1 other Omega, but this one is my everyday watch. I've had no problems at all. It's never been serviced and still keeps near perfect time, gains 2 or 3 seconds every 6 or 7 days. I have had it pressure tested twice over the years. The last time was 2 years ago. Still as tight as ever. My only complaint. The rotating bezel on mine is extremely stiff and somewhat difficult to turn, and the edge bevels are not really pronounced enough to give you good grip. The only evident wear and tear on mine is typical hairline scratches on the band and clasp. The watch case, crown, and crystal still appear flawless, and this is my everyday watch. A few comments about the warranty. The Standard Manufacturer's Warranty is only 1 year, after that your own own, unless you purchase the extended Amazon Warranty. Personally, like most extended warranties, I don't think it's necessary. If the watch works when you receive it, then it will still be working a year later, 2 years later, etc. And note that the warranties do not cover accidental breakage or damage. I also feel the same way about "General Maintenance/Servicing". If it's not broke don't fix it. If it's not keeping good time, then look into getting serviced. The recommended "service intervals" are just a good way to lift some money from your pocket. "Grey Market Vendors...", I see no problem in purchasing from an internet vendor as long as you do your research and know they are reputable. You will save plenty over what you would pay in a regular store front jewelry store. I purchased mine over the internet and saved $800 over what the local jewelry stores were charging, plus the savings on sales tax.... I decided not to worry about not having any true warranty because the vendor had a 30 day money back gurantee. Like I said, if it works when you get it, it will still be working a year later. The money I saved more than outweighed the 1 year manufacturers warranty. One last note.... You will probably need it sized to your wrist. If you purchase from the internet, then just find a local watch repair shop that services higher end watches, they will do it for you. DO NOT GO TO a Mall Kiosk like Watch Works, etc!!

I actually own this specific watch (#2220.80.00) and is my 2nd Omega (have five year old Speedmaster). It is a beautiful watch and like other Omegas you get comments on it. If you have not owned an Omega then you will be impressed by the feel and quality of the watch. For these kind of watches it doesn't feel heavy at all but a comfortable feel to it when wearing. Accuracy? Let's face it, a cheap $20 quartz is more accurate but it is rated a chronometer (don't confuse the term chronograph with lots of dials) and I gain 2 seconds a day. This is good because it is easy to update but stopping the clock a few seconds a day and watches tend to slow until the next cleaning. The Co-Axial feature is not a gimick (look at the Omega site for an animation on how this works) and results in the watch being certified a chronometer. Compared to my older non-coaxial Speedmaster (new ones have coaxial) here are my observations:
*With my older automatic you could feel the automatic movement as it spun around when wearing it. The Seamaster doesn't have that moment and is quiet. When listening to it much more pleasant than the Speedmaster but I know most would say who cares.
*With my older automatic when you did rewind it it would offer a lot of resistance and almost cut into your thumb. The new one offers just a little resistance but rewinds the watch. You could wind it all day without getting callouses.

As for as warrenty: Others have pointed out that you lose one year of warrenty if you buy it through Amazon. I also think you may not get the card that certifies it is a chronometer which may be important for some and not for others. I bought it through the Navy exchange military store but of course not an option for some. The advantage is that the military is a certified Omega seller.

Only negative (maybe not for some): The watch dial is really more black than blue as shown in the picture...looks more like black wave not blue wave. OK, maybe it is a dark Navy blue. Still not a deal breaker for this watch. Good value for the price. I've found I didn't really need all the "bells and whistles" of my chronogragh Speedmaster. If you need reading glasses nice to have big broad dials such as this watch which is easy to read.

Well, I guess I was supposed to have this watch. I had always wanted a Seamaster Cronometer Automatic, but never saw myself spending this kind of money, not to mention the price at an authorized dealer. Amazon sent me an email a week or so ago that had special 12 months no interest on select watches. I looked and looked and finally pulled the trigger on this fantastic blue face large size automatic. Actually, I ordered on July 31, 2009 and for $6.99 extra with Amazon Prime had it at my door before 10:00 a.m. this morning. It's a good thing I took advantage of the offer, because as of today, the "12 months" offer is no more and the price has actually gone up!

I had somewhat of a concern by ordering a "gray market" watch, but I had ordered a Luminox ETA automatic from Amazon about 4 or 5 years ago and had good luck with it and also saved about $200.00.

I read all of the reviews here on Amazon and even went to watch forums such as www.timezone.com and read reviews. The folks on timezone appear to only purchase through authorized dealers. Fortunately by going to a forum I learned about some very important things surrounding the watch such as serial numbers and a little "red dot" that Omega applies to watches out of the factory. I had concerns about this and thought that if I saw anything suspicious that I could just return the watch to Amazon. Man was I happy after inspecting it! Sure enough, all of the serial numbers were there from the multiple cards that come with the watch to the little "medallions" that are tied to the watch upon opening. The watch itself has the laser engraved serial number in the appropriate place also. I had heard that some "gray market" watches do not come with everything, from what I have seen, my purchase from Amazon did. I realize that it can only be covered under warranty through Amazon, but by saving hundreds if not close to a "grand" that's fine with me.

Now to that little "red dot". Sure enough it is there and it acts as a tiny little "bridge" between the case and the screwed on case back. It tells you if anyone has opened the case since it came from the factory as the little dot will break upon opening the case. I guess if someone really wanted to take the time they could "paint" it back on, but it would be difficult as I'm not sure it's exactly paint.

This is the new "007" watch with the Co-Axial movement in it and it is super quiet! If I didn't know that it was an auto, I'd think it was a quartz. You can't feel it moving around either on your wrist.

The fit and finish of the watch is second to none. I'm really not sure why Rolex charges as much as they do, the Omega seems like a bargain actually, even though it's still an expensive watch. So far, as I write this review at 4:31 p.m., it seems to be keeping fine time. I'll have to wait and see how it is tomorrow. When I received my Luminox I had to take it and have it calibrated as it was way too fast upon arrival, it keeps perfect time now. I'm hoping that this Omega Chronometer will not need adjusting. You'd think since it is a "certified chronometer" that you would not need it, but I've read of several people having to have theirs adjusted, even folks that bought from authorized dealers.

I can see why this model is so popular, it's just a really fine time piece. Those luminous hands and hour markers as just as stated, they glow bright and for a long time!

I know that some say that they would NEVER buy "gray market", but I've always had excellent service with Amazon and since I had no issues with my first watch from them, I'm sure glad I took advantage of their offer and purchased this fine time piece! All in all, for the savings it was worth it and I'll continue to purchase my time pieces from Amazon.

Hope this review helps anyone with reservations about purchasing an expensive time piece from Amazon.

I think the watch is a work of art, very solid, and very well finished. Appears to keep very good time. My only concern with the entire transaction has to do with Amazon warranty/support on the watch. I was having difficulty with getting the date to change correctly and initially thought there was a problem with the watch. I called Amazon to ask them about it and to notify them that there might be a problem with my watch. They said someone from the Jewelry dept at Amazon would call me the next day to address my concerns or send me a new watch (I am within the 30 days of purchase). It has been 2 weeks, I am beyond my 30 days not for exchange and the Amazon Jewelry dept has yet to call me. I have left another message. I hope I have solved the situation with the date functionality as it appears to be working now but I am surprised at Amazon support. I have not run into this before with Amazon but I have also not purchased jewelry from them befor. There may be an issue that buyers need to be aware of...also the Omega Seamaster Co-Axial that I have comes with a 3 year Omega warranty but that warranty is somehow voided if you buy it through Amazon and all they give you is a 2 year waranty through Amazon. That does not seem to make sense either and the Amazon customer service person had no answer for that issue and I have not received a call back on that one either...all in all I would say the watch is a fantastic piece of jewelry but I am a bit concerned about Amazon cusotmer service.

A gorgeous watch but very low quality. I got this watch as a gift, only wore it to the office, and always took good care of it. Perpetual calendar took a couple of months (!) and multiple visits to the store to settle down. It then broke twice over less than two years, each time costing $350 and taking a few months (yes months) to repair. I eventually gave up. Omega service, at least in New York, is despicable. Keep away. My other watch, a $45 Casio, never gave me any trouble even though I race triathlons with it.

This watch performs like quintessential Omega self wind. The appearance of the watch is pretty unpretentious to the uninitiated eyes, who would probably fancy a flashy, ornate one.
But a watch lover would quickly appreciate it when spotted on your wrist.
I own this for one and half years or so ... my first Omega and it lived up to its reputation. It is a self-wind watch, so it goes down if not worn for 24 hours or so - but thats how all self-wind watches are. The crystal dome is scratch-proof indeed. In fact the steel casing is also of extremely high quality and scratch resistant. It keeps time within the precision the chronometer rating it came with.
I wear this at work, at parties, while working on the yard and also while skiing ... good for all occasions.

The hands and time marks have stainless steel finish whilst the dial is colored gray. The crystal dome does reflect a bit, but visibility is not an issue for me. Also, in semi darkness, the fluorescent coating on hands and marks does a pretty good job.

This watch is on the smaller side relative to other swiss men's watches; it suits narrower wrists - that was one of the reasons I chose this, and I am happy with that aspect of the watch.

I love the watch. However, within 30 days of using it, the clasp broke. This should not happen on a watch that is so expensive. When I contacted the Amazon retailor - Jomashop - they refused to stand behind the defective product that they sent -- citing their limited warranty. Be careful. Jomashop is NOT an authorized Omega dealer and thus the Omega warranty is not valid. Simply stated, when paying this much for a watch that should last a lifetime, don't buy from an unauthorized dealer such as Jomashop who will not stand behind the product.

I bought this watch in Feb. 2004. In May 2004 it no longer kept time. It gained about 1 hour each day. It had to sent out for repair which took 3 weeks. The watch is also difficult to read under certain lighting conditions-the "anti-reflective crystal" is hardly that. It's a nice looking watch, but there are better choices.
